I had to take a while to de-stress and just touch some grass really, because I was a lot more offended at yesterweek's troll than I should be (in my defense, hormonal dysregulation, new meds and all that fucking my mood) but uh, once the bad mood was gone I still felt like I should write a bit on why I actually love Michiru but don't care for HaruMichi or any Sailor Moon canon ship - and no dumbass it's not because "butch/femme couples aren't real lesbians" (honestly I still can't believe some troll accused me of that and then rolled with it, I am like -- what? but go on.)

Anyway, there was a lot of going back and forth and erasing, circumstantiality, getting tired of writing, trying to not sound too personal and failing, etc. A bit of a miserable piece but also heartfelt - almost as heartfelt as the secret that some trolls chose to misinterpret. And I know fandom can be defensive to the detriment of real people's real feelings but that was way worse than I expected. Anyway, I started feeling a little less annoyed once I realized there were far less pissed off people than trolls (and pretty sure at least one troll knows me personally and holds a grudge for entirely different reasons, so I said *shrug* fuck it).
Also, I wanted to talk about THE Aluminum Siren because someone mentioned her and Lead Crow as an anime-only canon couple and I was like "really?" (never thought of it as canon? I vaguely remember Seeing It but I see ship Shinobu and Kaolla Su and not even AO3 acknowledges that so I am not sure how delusional kid me was.) but it was anime-only and very minor so I didn't find the opportunity. No reason other than I always thought she is pretty, plus, invented soft pink & pastel blue aesthetics - just gratuitously throwing this "3 cheers for Aluminum Siren!" here. Oh but the anime did Animamates dirty - I remember being excited about HMP and she NEVER made an anime appearance... I digress lol
tl;dr: lesbian couples ... that are not butch/femme ... exist. They are not canonically represented in Sailor Moon but they exist. ('shockingly' this does not make butch/femme couples heteronormative nor any better or worse.) Not every couple of gay males has an effeminate dude either. Not every couple has got to have a feminine-presenting-person and a masculine-presenting-person. Sailor Moon isn't the best series when it comes to letting us know that. It's also rather heteronormative at least at first - but then its tone changes; it's never too far from the heteronormative lane as far as I can remember, but adaptations did the job.
That was all, actually. That's all it ever was.
